I have a friend in the industry who just sent me a copy of Underoath's newest album, Lost In the Sound of Separation. Now, I haven't been an Underoath fan since they released The Changing of Times. They're best album in my opinion will always be Act of Depression. They've released two albums since The Changing of Times and both of them sucked. Define the Great Line was significantly better than They're Only Chasing Safety, but that isn't really saying much. I had high expectations for this album since they said they were going to try something "new" for it. They lied. It's Define the Great Line v. 2.0 and that's a shame. Underoath had a lot to prove with this album and they failed. Miserably. It's bland, typical, and more of the same. It's generic in a genre that has become one giant stereotype, where shitty bands have been classified as screamo. Underoath is by no means screamo nor have they ever been or ever will be. This album is a step backwards for the Christfag group from America's Graveyard, Florida.
Basically, the album sucks. From the opening track "Breathing In a New Mentality" to the closing track "Desolate Earth :: The End is Here," every song runs together and they fail at making anything cohesive that sounds right. In short, it's nothing new.
I would avoid this album and save your money for Bring Me the Horizon's upcoming album, "Suicide Season" due out this October.
Edit: I got it in the mail yesterday, but I only just got around to listening to this piece of shit composition.
